Who has seen this syndroMAN lately? He listens to the name of Sergej Korsakov and was last seen at my latest exposition last May. Afterwards he did not turn back to his owner. His walking away might be due to his mental state: He is suffering from severe alcoholism and loss of memory. Whoever has met this guy in the last couple of months, please don't hesitate to contact me at lolomaria@me.com. I would love to reunite this WiseOldMAN with his owner.

Comic MEN @Stripdagen Haarlem

During the Stripdagen Haarlem, in the weekend of June 5-6, 1010, my Comic MEN had a hard job: they spitefully had to realize that a few years after their deaths, their creatures were no longer the crème de la crème of the world of comics. Tintin, Storm and Oliver B. Humble were in the meantime dethroned by their followers – Elp de Cavia, Poephoofd ('Shit-head') and Spekkie Big ('Fat Pig') – who enjoy now an even greater popularity than Tintin and Oliver ever did. But of course my Comic MEN, Hergé, Marten Toonder, Don Lawrence, and Will Eisner, were most of all proud of their grand-grand-grandchildren, especially for their efficient way of working. It costed all four of them about five hours to find their pose on the canvas, while during the Stripdagen many young comic artists set up canvases in about two minutes. Thank God people smiled at the Comic MEN; they weren't totally forgotten yet. And Hergé was sold to a young comics fanatic. Hurray, history does live on in the younger generation. So finally my Comic MEN left Haarlem with a good feeling about their visit.

In the weekend of 5-6 June, I will be drawing a new series, Comic MEN: The greatest cartoonists on canvas, at the Van Speijk Stand at the Stripdagen Haarlem.

Who are the fathers of well-known comics like Spike & Suzie (Suske & Wiske), Tintin (Kuifje), Oliver B. Bumble (Ollie B. Bommel), Charlie Brown, the Smurfs (Smurfen) or Lucky Luke?
With amongst others: Hergé, Willy Vandersteen, Marten Toonder, Will Eisner, and Schultz.

Location: Stadsschouwburg & Philharmonie, Lange Begijnestraat 11, Haarlem
Comic MEN will also be also exposed on August 28 at the StripKunstBeurs, Hoge der A, Groningen.
